Vintage Flat Cap

I can't tell you how happy I am to be back to my beloved city Edinburgh. I spent my formative years here and I just love this city to bits. This year is the 70th year of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and I thought if I were to have my Fringe Premier it'd have to be this year. Growing up watching shows at the Fringe, it's so different to come back as a performer. Do you know the Fringe is the 3rd larges event in the world, after the Olympics and FIFA? Today I'm going to give you some of the insider's tips on Vintage Shopping in Edinburgh.

Castle Terrace

Castle Terrace

Grassmarket is quite a unique part of the city filled with traditional pubs and quirky vintage shops. It's right next to my University and only 5 mins walk from my former halls of residence: I spent too much time there it's actually quite embarrassing. If you walk from Lothian Road or Castle Terrace you'll find Herman Brown and Godiva before you hit the Grassmarket. Herman Brown specialises in vintage clothing and jewellery, I've found some super cool jackets and jumpers and the price is pretty reasonable.

Since I'm walking from Castle Terrace today, I thought I'd check out Godiva, the last time I went there was probably 5 years ago! They offers a mixture of contemporary, reformed, made to measure and vintage fashion - I always go straight to the back for the vintage stuff. After some digging I found a super cute leather flat cap for £8 and a black belt for £10. It's a great way to add some urban edge to an outfit, as opposed to more elegant hats you might have.

Very pleased with my new vintage addition, now heading to the Grassmarket for a cuppa tea. I've been to most pubs there so I was quite surprised to find a vegan cafe in the middle of the pubs, I'm not a vegan but I like trying new things. Here's a picture of me drinking my first cup of hazelnut latte. I've tried soya latte and oatmeal latte but I keep going back to my regular latte.

We also got ourselves a soya ice cream cake, it's sooooo yummy oh my god!! And also very beautifully presented. I always appreciate it when food is well presented, it also matches my flyer, it's probably not the best place to go to if you're short on cash though.
